Setting up a trial product using “renew to other product”

We get a lot of questions about the possibility of setting up a trial version of a product in Atomia. This will shed some light on one way of doing it, using the feature “renew with product” in the product card.

1. Find the product that you want to create a trial product for and extract the information

Login to the admin panel and find the product menu item

Click the products item in the dropdown

In the product list, use the search function (or just scroll/filter) to find the product of choice

1. Click on the article number of your product

2. Then open a new tab or window in the browser

2. Setup a trial product

In the new tab or window, access the admin panel again. Then go to the list of products again and in the top right corner you will find “add new product”

Setup the trial product as a copy of the original product, do not forget that the pricing should whatever you have decided for the trial and not the same as the original product. In addition the name of the product should probably be changed to reflect the trail nature of the product.

If you want the pricing to be 0 (meaning a free trial) and the period to be 1 month. Here is how you set it up.

The final part of the product setup that will be different is found under “options” on the product card. If you want the trial product to be converted into the Platinum package we used as an example here is how these settings should be setup. Please remember to not check re-provision, if you leave leave this unchecked the only change will be in the billing, nothing will be provisioned or changed in the automation server.
